About Me

I found Pilates in my mid 40's after struggling for several years with intermittent, sometimes immobilising back pain and stiffness, which, nothing had managed to ease. Pilates enabled me to relearn healthy movement patterns and find my way back to physical health and a pain-free back. I loved every session and looked forward to that one hour of mindfully moving my body, thinking about nothing else, after which I'd feel taller, stronger and just great!

I soon decided to train as an instructor and at the age of 48 I signed up for teacher training with Polestar Pilates in the UK in 2010. I've been teaching and continuing my learning ever since. I'm super-interested in the science of movement, psychology and breathing, especially within the context of aging well and increasing healthspan.
I believe that a regular Pilates practice is a fantastic foundation for ageing well and maintaining functional movement into later years. By working on building strength and muscle tone, balance, mind/body co-ordination and flexibility, Pilates really can help the body and mind to age better.

In 2019 I had a total hip replacement due to a congenital hip issue and my quick and full recovery was very much down to my ongoing Pilates practice.

In 2023 I completed a Breathwork Instructor Training with Breathless Expeditions in Australia, which opened my eyes to the power of breath and good breathing patterns for health, and this increasingly informs my Pilates teaching going forward.

I love to work with a wide range of people, all ages and abilities, from those with injury, disability or requiring post-operative rehab, to those seeking to maintain and improve on functional movement and those looking to enhance athletic performance. Now at the age of 62, and feeling stronger than ever through my practice, it's great to work with other older people looking to increase and maintain physical strength and mobility into later years.
I offer an intuitive, varied, fun and flowing approach to movement. I believe that through the power of Pilates, we can find new ways of being in, and getting the best out of our bodies.
